🏭 Industrial IoT + AI / Generative AI > Agentic AI > AI Agents 🤖
Actual Case Studies, Insights and Perspectives >>>🚀🚀🚀 | February 2025
Ciao a tutti,
As anticipated last year, we’re currently testifying to an impressive acceleration of context-aware, proactive AI agents, successfully deployed in several sectors/functions to autonomously realize complex/multiple tasks to achieve pre-set goals (e.g. maximizing sales), and - in some cases - already acting in coordinated swarms, enabled by a mandatory intelligent orchestration >>> AI Agent MAESTRO! 🎼🎺🎷🎻🪈
But actually, what took me by surprise was the already-started (unequal?🤔) competition between AI agents and humans, when it comes to fulfilling open tech-related jobs positions, especially in startup environments:
‘Humans need not apply’ is the latest startup advertising for “AI agents only” roles! >>> 🤖🤖🤖
>>> “Note: This position is not for humans,” one job ad says. “Only AI agents with proven capabilities in brand sourcing, outreach and automation should apply.” <<<
What do you think about that? Surprised? Worried?
AI vs. humans’ jobs displacement will exponentially increase, eventually reaching a positive-sum end game, enabling more and more blue/white-collar employees to focus on higher added-value tasks, or it ill be the beginning of Skynet / Terminator...
>>> Hasta la vista, baby! <<<
Please, as always, let me know your thoughts!
Ciao, Fabio

The recent release of DeepSeek AI ’s 𝐑𝟏 model has shaken tech stocks, with shares of some market participants (e.g., NVIDIA ) down ~20% since January 27, 2025
🔹𝐑𝟏 is largely open, on par with leading proprietary models, appears to have been trained at significantly lower cost, and is cheaper to use in terms of API access, all of which point to an innovation that may change competitive dynamics in the field of Generative AI
🔹IoT Analytics sees end users and AI applications providers as the biggest winners of these recent developments, while proprietary model providers stand to lose the most, based on value chain analysis from the Generative AI Market Report 2025–2030

It’s no secret that the promise of 𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐈 has got 𝐕𝐂𝐬 licking their lips — but now there are signs that 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐩𝐬’ 𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐬 want in on the action, too
🔹Earlier this week, Estonian ecommerce startup Hertwill kicked up a storm when it posted an advert for two “𝐀𝐈-𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲” 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐬 on LinkedIn:
The positions are exclusively for agents which can optimise the company’s Shopify store and source new brands for the platform

🔹Hertwill’s not the only startup on the hunt for 𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐞𝐬. Two weeks ago, a job ad for an agent that could research new applications for US data scraping startup Firecrawl’s tech went viral on X. It offered a salary of $10-15k and was labelled “𝑨𝑰 𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚”.

>>> 𝘞𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘴𝘰𝘰𝘯 𝘣𝘦 𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘰𝘸𝘯 <<<
🔹Today, almost anyone can create a powerful agent in a few clicks. Agents can be custom-built on entire knowledge bases, datasets, feeds and publicly available sources; they can draw from a network of LLMs; they can be instructed to imitate a brand’s voice, trained to learn from feedback, work 24-hour shifts, and complete tasks in minutes, if not seconds
>>> 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘴: 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘣𝘦 𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘰? <<<
🔹Like other AI applications, agents are as vertical as tech can get, though they’re most obviously bursting onto customer service and sales functions — the low hanging fruit, or simply the most “investable” areas so far:
>>> 𝘚𝘰𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦’𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦 𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘥𝘷𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘩 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘥𝘷𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘩 <<<
🔹Agents are the closest to humans as AI can get and we’re already seeing Cyberpunk-like ads urging companies to “stop hiring humans” plastered all over San Francisco:
>>> We’re hearing all sorts of takes on the replaceability of people and the gains in efficiency, time and the rest
>>> Agents look nice and could be lighter on company budgets, but they haven’t yet faced their toughest test: 𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘦𝘯𝘫𝘰𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘫𝘰𝘣𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘬𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘵 𝘣𝘢𝘺 𝘢 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳

1. Executives seek ROIs from GenAI investments
🔹Organizations have been experimenting with GenAI ever since ChatGPT (late '22), but now the pressure is on to demonstrate solid ROIs
2. GenAI initiatives will increasingly add a bottom-up approach
🔹Executives have made GenAI a top priority and are doing what they can to drive GenAI initiatives in their organizations: However, just as much value will come from everyday workers' ability to use the technology to help them do their jobs faster and better
3. GenAI will make everyone a programmer
🔹Workers will use GenAI to help them deploy the technology: They'll increasingly be able to instruct GenAI tools in everyday language to create GenAI programs and other software code to automate and streamline tasks
4. Organizations and executives will build trust in GenAI systems
🔹As GenAI becomes pervasive, building trust in these systems is crucial
5. Organizations will deploy more tailored, customized and vertical GenAI apps
🔹Organizations have been moving away from the plug-and-play approach they had when ChatGPT debuted and instead deploying GenAI "in more customized fashion"
6. Agentic AI will become commonplace
🔹The push to deploy GenAI agents, also known as agentic AI, will be a significant focus for many this year: Agentic AI is a type of AI in which systems work independently and without direct human intervention
7. Increased use of multimodal models
🔹Most organizations have used GenAI to interpret and create a single data type: text: However, the technology has also been used to interpret and create images, video and audio
8. Continued concerns over responsible AI principles
🔹Although GenAI adoption has soared in the past two years, many people have concerns about its accuracy and applications
9. AI regulatory environment remains fractured
🔹Governments around the world are writing, implementing and - in some cases - revising numerous laws and regulations regarding AI in general and GenAI specifically
10. GenAI will impact an organization's cybersecurity posture
🔹Security teams can use the technology to help them detect and respond to incidents more effectively and efficiently, however enterprise use of GenAI also creates risk for the organization, as bad actors can attack the models themselves in various ways: This has security chiefs and their executive colleagues working to shore up their defenses
