"𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘹𝘵 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘣𝘦 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘪𝘥 𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘴," Huang said. "𝘞𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘻𝘦𝘥 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘴."

🔹To that end NVIDIA announced Project GR00T, a general-purpose foundation model for humanoid robots. As a type of AI model itself, NVIDIA hopes GR00T (which stands for "𝘎𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘵 𝘙𝘰𝘣𝘰𝘵 00 𝘛𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺" but sounds a lot like the famous Marvel character) will serve as an AI mind for robots, enabling them to learn skills and solve various tasks on the fly.

🔹In a tweet, NVIDIA researcher Linxi Jim Fan called the project "𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘮𝘰𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘷𝘦 𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘰𝘥𝘪𝘦𝘥 𝘈𝘎𝘐 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘩𝘺𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥."

🔹Microsoft’s market cap is hovering at all-time highs as investors have gotten behind its embrace of the technology. Meanwhile, NVIDIA joined the club after cruising past the $1T and $2T market cap benchmarks in less than a year on the back of demand for its high-end AI chips.

🔹Where big tech is putting its money — including investments and acquisitions — provides a window into each player’s strategy. The number of AI deals backed by the group increased 57% in 2023 compared to 2022.

🔹Notably, Meta and Apple didn’t invest in any AI startups in 2023, though Meta has been active in developing its own open-source AI models and Apple acquired an AI video compression startup last year.

🔹Generative AI can affect managerial decision-making in “𝘢 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘺” by boosting value generation, according to Prasanna Tambe (Sonny), The Wharton School professor of operations, information and decisions.

🔹Its unique strengths in translation, summation, and content generation are especially useful in processing unstructured data. Some 80% of all new data in enterprises is unstructured, he noted, citing research firm Gartner.

Very little of that unstructured data that resides in places like emails "𝘪𝘴 𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨,” he noted.

🔹Last year, Amazon announced the next step for its growing robotic workforce. A new system, dubbed Sequioa, linked robots from across a warehouse into a single automated team that the company said significantly increased the efficiency of its operations.

🔹The tech giant is now looking to fund a newer, smarter generation of robots. In an interview with The Financial Times, Amazon’s Franziska Bossart said the company’s billion-dollar industrial innovation fund will accelerate investments in startups combining AI and robotics.
